Synopsis
Since Kusasa aims to cultivate analytical thinking it assumes that learners have mastered the skills of reading. However, in South Africa and in many other parts of the world children struggle with reading. For this reason this story focuses on reading appreciation. In this story Sophie helps Jojo approach his reading actively and imaginatively. The story demonstrates that with reading, as with almost any other mental discipline, attitude is everything.
